AML Business Analyst

Location: Toronto, ON

Onsite Flexibility: Hybrid 4 days onsite, 1 day work from home (Friday is work from home, subject to change)

Contract Details

  • Position Type: Contract
  • Contract Duration: 2 months (with potential for extension based on business needs and performance; conversion to permanent also possible based on business needs and performance)
  • Pay Rate: C$40.00 C$50.00 / Hour (CAD)
  • Shift / Schedule: Monday Friday, core business hours 37.5 hours per week, 7.5 hours per day (8:00 AM 4:00 PM); overtime possible
  • Travel Requirements: Not required

Job Summary

This is a backfill contract role within a team of 7 supporting Anti-Money Laundering (AML) operations at a major financial institution. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting screening against various watchlists and flags, operating primarily through internal interactions. The contractor will have access to customer data and will be measured on performance metrics including SLAs, KPIs, daily/monthly goals, and quality of work. The role offers an opportunity for long-term career development and the chance to gain AML knowledge and experience within a collaborative, fast-paced environment. Meeting time is minimal approximately 1 hour per week.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support screening against various watchlists and flags
  • Conduct day-to-day AML operational activities aligned to SLAs, KPIs, and daily/monthly quality goals
  • Interact primarily with internal stakeholders
  • Handle and review customer data in compliance with regulatory and organizational standards
  • Complete a TD onboarding process and formal job-specific training during the initial 2-week training period
  • Manage time and priorities effectively to meet daily and monthly performance targets
  • Pivot between tasks as needed, demonstrating adaptability and a willingness to take initiative

Required Skills

  • Minimum 2 years of AML experience (closer to 4 years preferred)
  • Adverse media experience
  • Experience with Money Service Business (MSB) and/or Politically Exposed Persons (PEP) screening
  • Previous experience in screening processes and understanding of those processes
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Strong time management and priority management skills
  • Attention to detail; self-starter and adaptable
  • Flexible and able to pivot from one task to another
  • Willingness to learn and takes initiative

Preferred Skills

  • ACAMS certification
  • Banking or financial institution experience

Education Requirements

  • Post-secondary education preferred

Required Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of AML experience (closer to 4 years is preferred)
  • Experience supporting screening against watchlists/flags
  • Experience working within AML or financial crime compliance environments

Nice-to-Have Experience

  • Experience within a banking or financial institution setting
