About ONETWOSIX

ONETWOSIX is a team of designers and fabricators with an unwavering ambition to create products without functional or aesthetic compromise. We partner with clients who value great design as much as we do. Our human-centered design process is grounded in hands-on prototyping and real-world testing to create products that truly work for people.

Position Overview

We are currently seeking a highly motivated, positive, and independent individual to join our Research and Development team as an Electrical Designer. This role is ideal for someone with 2–5 years of hands-on experience in designing, prototyping, and programming custom electronic hardware. As the sole electrical designer on staff, the successful candidate must be confident in working autonomously while collaborating with multidisciplinary design, engineering and fabrication teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Development of PCB hardware; spec. writing, detailed design, schematic capture, layout, prototyping, design validation and handing off to production
  • Program embedded systems and microcontrollers (e.g., Arduino, ESP32, STM32)
  • Select components and create complete electrical systems tailored to new product concepts
  • Develop proof-of-concept and alpha/beta prototypes in collaboration with industrial designers
  • Record, test, and document findings and iterations throughout the development process
  • Research applicable electrical safety and emissions codes and certifications
  • Support third-party certification processes (e.g., FCC, CE, CSA)
  • Build and manage BOMs, technical documentation, and wiring schematics
  • Vet electrical suppliers and manufacturing partners

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology from an accredited institution
  • 2–5 years of experience in electronics design and prototyping
  • Experience with microprocessor, monitoring, and sensing circuits.
  • Proficiency in PCB design tools (e.g. Altium, Eagle, Fusion)
  • Experience with ARM based micro controllers (Arduino, EPS32, STM) in C
  • Firmware development experience an asset
  • Strong documentation and critical thinking skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a product development or R&D setting
  • Familiarity with electromechanical systems and sensor integration
  • Knowledge of EMC compliance and certification processes
  • Comfort working in a dynamic, design-led environment

Ideal Candidate Profile

You’re a curious and capable engineer who thrives in a dynamic, hands-on environment. You have a keen eye for detail, a strong foundation in electronics design, and a desire to see your work come to life in functional prototypes and market-ready products. You’re comfortable being the go-to person for all things electrical, and you enjoy collaborating with a team of designers and makers who share your passion for thoughtful, impactful products.
