Full time/ year round

Location: L & S Wiens Farms Inc - Rosemary, AB

Hours of work: 8:00 am-5:30 pm Monday through Friday. Saturdays and longer hours during our peak periods.

L & S Wiens Farms is an irrigated farm located in Rosemary, AB. We grow a wide variety of crops including canola, cereals, and alfalfa for seed production. We also raise leafcutter bees for pollination. We are looking for a dedicated individual to join our family farm. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, farm experience, and a passion for agriculture. This position offers an opportunity to develop practical skills in farm operations while contributing positively to our farm’s success!

Responsibilities

  • Assist with tillage, seeding, irrigating, fertilizing, haying and harvesting operations.
  • Operate farm machinery and contribute to regular maintenance and general repair of equipment.
  • Assist with irrigation including monitoring and repairing pivots as needed.
  • Assist with leafcutter bee production - prepare pollination supplies, set up shelters and hives in the field, place leafcutter bees in the field, and extract bees from hives.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas.
  • Assist with other seasonal tasks around the farm.

Job requirements

  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral) with the ability to follow detailed instructions accurately.
  • Must have experience operating farm machinery and GPS systems.
  • Mechanical knowledge related to farm machinery.
  • Agronomic knowledge.
  • Good attitude and willingness to learn.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record. Class 1 and 3 is an asset.
  • Occasionally exposed to extreme weather conditions (hot, cold, wet, etc.)

Education and Experience

  • Previous experience in agriculture and operating equipment.
  • Grade 12 graduate
  • Post-secondary program is an asset.
