Position: Outreach Worker / Pharmacy Assistant – Mental Health & Addictions

Eastside Pharmacy is seeking a compassionate and motivated Outreach Worker / Pharmacy Assistant to join our team. This unique role combines community outreach with in-pharmacy support, providing wrap-around services to individuals experiencing mental health and addiction challenges.

The successful candidate will work both in the community administering medications to clients and within the pharmacy assisting pharmacists with daily operations.

Schedule: Full-time
Hours: Friday – Tuesday (morning shifts)

Responsibilities:

Community Outreach

  • Conduct outreach visits to connect with individuals experiencing mental health and addiction challenges
  • Administer medications to clients in their homes, supportive housing sites, and healthcare facilities
  • Maintain accurate documentation of outreach visits and medication administration
  • Work with clients using a compassionate and non-judgmental approach

Pharmacy Assistant Duties

  • Assist pharmacists with medication preparation, packaging, and dispensing
  • Support prescription processing and pharmacy workflow
  • Assist with medication deliveries and coordination of outreach visits
  • Provide excellent customer service to patients and healthcare providers
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary healthcare team to support patient care

Work Environment:

This role involves working with individuals experiencing complex mental health, substance use, and housing challenges in community and supportive housing settings.

Qualifications:

  • Compassionate and empathetic attitude toward individuals experiencing mental health and addiction challenges
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a non-judgmental approach
  • Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment in community settings
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills
  • Background in pharmacy, nursing, social work, or a health-related field is an asset

Requirements:

  • Previous outreach or healthcare experience preferred
  • Knowledge of mental health and addiction issues
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle
  • Willingness to travel for outreach visits (mileage reimbursed at CRA rates)
  • Ability to work early morning shifts
  • Ability to obtain or maintain a Criminal Record Check
