DESCRIPTION

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a creative, high-judgment, and highly proactive PR Manager to join our Canada Communications team. In this role, you will develop and execute communications strategies through multiple channels that demonstrate the impact of AWS investments and innovations across Canada.

As part of the AWS Canada Communications team, you’ll work with local leadership, marketing, global PR colleagues, and others, to develop compelling innovation stories that resonate with Canadian media while connecting to a global brand. You’ll also build relationships with customers and partners – from large enterprises to fast growing startups – to develop stories that show how AWS cloud and AI technologies help Canadian customers of all sizes build and grow their business. Through strategic media relations and proactive pitching, you'll build and maintain relationships with key technology, business, and mainstream media contacts, securing high-impact coverage that supports business and reputational objectives.

This role requires the ability to translate complex technologies into clear, engaging press materials and stories that matter to Canadians; while acting as a trusted communications advisor to internal and external stakeholders. You are organized, resourceful, have strong project management skills and are comfortable managing competing priorities in a fast-moving environment.

  • Act like an internal journalist to identify stories and craft compelling content including press materials, talking points, briefing documents, and thought leadership articles that make complex cloud and AI technology accessible to any audience
  • Collaborate with global AWS PR colleagues and other Amazon PR teams—from Stores to Devices to Prime Video, to maximize opportunities and drive holistic storytelling.
  • Serve as a trusted communications advisor to leadership and stakeholders—preparing spokespeople for interviews, providing real-time counsel and communication support within tight timelines, anticipating issues, and developing proactive response strategies
  • Monitor industry trends and news cycles—identifying opportunities for AWS to contribute to industry conversations and applying learnings to strengthen our approach

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • 7+ years of recent professional communications or public relations experience

  • Experience advising senior executives on communications strategies, issues, and preparing spokespeople for media engagements
  • Ability to communicate complex topics effectively and persuasively across different audiences and channels
