CWB Welder (SMAW All Position)

Pacific Apex Industrial Ltd.
Location: Saskatoon, SK (Home Base) with travel throughout Saskatchewan, Alberta, and Manitoba

Pacific Apex Industrial is looking for an experienced CWB Certified SMAW Welder to join our growing team. If you are a motivated, safety-focused professional who takes pride in producing high-quality work and enjoys working in the field, we want to hear from you.

This position is based out of Saskatoon but requires travel to project sites throughout Western Canada. Candidates must be willing to work away from home for up to 7 days at a time, including occasional out-of-province assignments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform structural and industrial welding in accordance with CWB standards and company procedures.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, engineered drawings, work orders, and welding specifications.
  • Produce quality welds that meet both company and customer requirements.
  • Safely operate welding equipment and related tools.
  • Work closely with Project Managers, Supervisors, and crew members to complete projects safely and efficiently.
  • Mentor and support apprentices and new employees in welding and fabrication techniques.
  • Complete daily timesheets, job documentation, JHAs, and required safety paperwork.
  • Follow all company, customer, and provincial OH&S regulations and site-specific safety requirements.
  • Identify and report hazards, unsafe conditions, and equipment maintenance concerns.
  • Demonstrate safe rigging practices and assist with material handling when required.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and professional work environment.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of welding and fabrication experience.
  • Current CWB SMAW All Position Certification.
  • Strong fabrication and blueprint reading skills.
  • Experience in industrial or agricultural fabrication is considered an asset.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and positive attitude.
  • Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Willing and able to travel throughout Saskatchewan, Alberta, and Manitoba.

Required Certifications

  • Valid driver's licence with a clean driving record and reliable transportation.
  • CWB SMAW All Position Certification.
  • WHMIS.
  • Fall Protection.
  • Elevated Work Platform (AWP).
  • Telehandler.
  • Confined Space.
  • First Aid Level 1 (or higher).

Assets

  • Red Seal Metal Fabricator/Welder.
  • Class A driver's licence (or willingness to obtain).
  • Agricultural or industrial maintenance experience.
  • Leadership or supervisory training.

Schedule

  • Full-time, permanent position.
  • Evening and weekend work may be required based on project schedules.
  • Frequent travel and out-of-town work required.
