Role Summary
We are seeking a Senior Engineer to join our water treatment design and fabrication team. This is a highly customer-facing role that combines strong technical leadership with the ability to manage complex client relationships. The successful candidate will be comfortable engaging directly with owners, consultants, and contractors—including navigating challenging conversations around scope, cost, schedule, and performance.
This role is well suited to an experienced engineer who enjoys technical problem-solving, mentoring junior staff, and acting as a trusted technical representative of the company.
Komline Pure Water has been providing clean drinking water and treating wastewater for environmental protection for over 30 years, with a strong emphasis on serving the needs of remote and indigenous communities. Each treatment system we offer is custom designed to meet the requirements of the clients and community and manufactured to provide reliable service under the harshest climate conditions. If you would like to help improve the quality of life for others, while also protecting our environment, we would like to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership
· Lead the engineering design of water and wastewater treatment systems, including process selection, equipment sizing, and system integration
· Review and approve engineering deliverables (process calculations, P&IDs, layouts, specifications)
· Provide technical guidance to project engineers, designers, and CAD staff
· Support fabrication and commissioning by resolving design and constructability issues
Client & Stakeholder Engagement
· Serve as the primary technical point of contact for clients throughout project execution
· Confidently manage difficult or high-pressure customer interactions, including scope disputes, change requests, and performance concerns
· Translate complex technical concepts into clear, practical explanations for non-technical stakeholders
· Participate in client meetings, design reviews, factory acceptance tests (FATs), and site visits
Project Support
· Collaborate closely with project managers to manage technical scope, schedules, and risk
· Support proposal development, technical clarifications, and value engineering
· Identify opportunities for design standardization, cost optimization,
and constructability improvements
Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in civil, Chemical, Mechanical, or Environmental Engineering
· 25+ years of experience in water or wastewater treatment system design
· Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in Canada
· Proven experience in design-build or equipment fabrication environments
· Strong working knowledge of treatment processes, packaged systems, and industrial water applications
Required Skills & Attributes
· Confident, outgoing communicator with strong interpersonal and presentation skills
· Demonstrated ability to handle challenging customers professionally and constructively
· Sound engineering judgment with a practical, solutions-oriented mindset
· Comfortable balancing technical rigor with commercial and schedule realities
· Able to mentor junior engineers and influence cross-functional teams
