Full job description

This position is responsible for preforming the Saw Operator duties in the finishing end of our Bar Mill.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Interpret production orders, locate, and identify the correct material(s) to fill the order.
  • Operate SAW and other equipment as required, following all safety and operational procedures.
  • Troubleshooting and communicating concerns regarding equipment.
  • Apply banding to bundles and properly crimping bands following Job Safety Procedure.
  • Able to inspect product for quality and other specification.
  • Able to communicate with crane operators, understands crane signaling.
  • Clean and lubricate equipment.
  • Keep work area tidy and free of hazards through general housekeeping.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a bar mill is an asset.
  • Experience operating SAW equipment is an asset.
  • Mechanical background is an asset.
  • Overall fitness with some heavy lifting is required.
  • Ability and desire to learn.
  • Detail Oriented and sense of discipline.
  • Fluent in both written and spoken English.
  • Commitment to safe work practices.

Working Conditions

8-12 Hour, Weekly Rotating Shifts - Days/Nights
