Position Summary
Nustadia Recreation Inc. is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Bookkeeper to join our Finance team. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting accurate financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and day-to-day accounting activities across Nustadia’s recreation, facility management, and operational projects.
This role requires a proactive, detail-oriented professional who can build and maintain strong working relationships with colleagues, facility teams, municipal partners, clients, and functional leaders. The Senior Bookkeeper will contribute to timely financial analysis, effective internal controls, and continuous improvement initiatives that support operational decision-making and the long-term success of Nustadia’s managed facilities and projects.
The ideal candidate is comfortable managing multiple priorities in a dynamic environment and is committed to delivering accurate, reliable, and practical financial information to support both corporate and operational objectives.
Key Responsibilities
The Senior Bookkeeper will support multiple recreation facilities, projects, and/or operating contracts as assigned. This role is responsible for a broad range of accounting, financial reporting, reconciliation, analysis, and operational support functions.
Financial Reporting & Analysis
- Prepare multiple monthly financial statements, supporting schedules, and management reporting packages.
- Prepare and review monthly balance sheet reconciliations, general ledger account reconciliations, and bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy, completeness, and timely completion.
- Perform monthly variance analysis against budgets, forecasts, and prior-period results, providing clear and meaningful explanations of key variances.
- Review cost of goods sold, revenue, expenses, and other operating accounts to identify unusual variances, trends, or transactions requiring further investigation.
- Ensure accounting records and financial reporting are maintained in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, internal policies, and applicable contractual requirements.
- Support month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and reporting requirements.
- Assist with the preparation of annual financial statements and provide supporting documentation for external audits.
- Support annual budgeting and periodic forecasting processes for assigned facilities or operating areas.
- Participate in special projects, process improvements, system initiatives, and other finance-related activities as assigned.
Operational Support
- Provide accounting support, guidance, and financial information to facility managers, operational staff, administrative staff, and management.
- Act as a finance resource for assigned facilities, helping operational teams understand financial results, budget performance, and reporting requirements.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to improve accounting processes, reporting tools, financial controls, and operational efficiencies.
- Support compliance with internal controls, approval processes, purchasing procedures, and financial reporting timelines.
- Move towards becoming the subject matter expert with respect to the accounting functions of facility management software.
Qualifications & Experience
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of five years of progressive bookkeeping experience in an accounting environment.
- Experience working independently in a full-cycle, sole-charge, supervisory, or senior bookkeeping role.
- Strong understanding of financial reporting, reconciliations, budgeting, variance analysis, and general accounting principles.
- Experience preparing financial statements, supporting audit processes, and working with external auditors.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience with Sage, QuickBooks, or similar accounting software.
- Experience supporting multiple operating locations, business units, projects, or contracts is considered an asset.
- Experience with recreation, facility management, municipal operations, hospitality, food and beverage, or event-based environments is considered an asset.
- Experience with ActiveNet, Finnly, Explorer, or similar recreation management, scheduling, or facility software is considered an asset.

Pay: $65,000.00-$90,000.00 per year
