Position: CNC Programmer/Operator

Reports To: Plant Superintendent

Position Summary:

The CNC Programmer/Operator produces machined parts by programming and operating a computer numerical control (CNC) machine; maintaining quality and safety standards; keeping records; maintaining equipment and supplies.

Essential Duties:

In keeping with the organization’s policies and procedures, along with all necessary legislative authority, the CNC Programmer/Operator will:

· Program, set up and run CNC machines.

· Read technical drawings and set up the machines in accordance with these blueprints

· Use computer software to model cutting paths and program machines accordingly

· Perform quality assurance tests to ensure products meet design specifications

· Adjust machine cutting paths or settings to optimize production while maintaining quality

· Consider tools required to cut particular materials and program machines accordingly

· Troubleshoot and resolve problems with machines as they arise

· Perform basic machine maintenance such as cleaning and sharpening

· Plans stock inventory by checking stock to determine amount available; anticipating needed stock.

· Maintains specifications by observing operations; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; editing programs; sharpening and replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes, ensuring all parts are to spec prior to taking off machine.

· Meets production goals in terms of cycle time, quantity, and quality.

· Operates in a safe manner by keeping work area clean and organized and by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.

· Train other employees on how to properly operate CNC machines and programs

· Other duties as required to maintain a positive team-oriented environment

Education and/or Experience:

· Certificate in machine shop technology or machine tool technology/machinist.

· Previous experience (2 years) in a tooling environment.

· Familiarity and skill with interpreting technical drawings and blueprints

· Skilled at troubleshooting and resolving mechanical or logistical problems that arise

· Ability to work independently and closely follow directions is essential

· Should have a positive and professional attitude

· Available to work weekends and overtime

· Capable of standing for extended periods of time

· Ability to lift up to 25 pounds for short periods of time

· Must be a highly motivated, service and team-oriented, analytical individual with an attention to detail.

· Strong organizational and time management skills.

· Able communicate professionally, verbally and in writing with team members.

· The ability to work well independently and as part of a team.

Pay: $24.00-$34.00 per hour
