Produce/Grocery Clerk

Job Summary
The Produce Clerk plays a vital role in ensuring the freshness and quality of fruits and vegetables in our store. This position involves providing excellent customer service, maintaining the produce department, and assisting customers with their selections. The ideal candidate will have a passion for fresh produce, a keen eye for detail, and strong communication skills to enhance the shopping experience.

Duties

• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the produce department to ensure a welcoming environment for customers.
• Assist customers by providing information about produce items, including freshness, quality, and usage recommendations.
• Stock shelves with fresh fruits and vegetables, ensuring proper rotation and display to maximize sales.
• Operate cash registers and handle transactions accurately while providing friendly service.
• Communicate effectively with team members to coordinate tasks and maintain department standards.
• Sell promotional items and assist with special displays to enhance product visibility.
• Utilize forklift equipment safely when necessary for stocking or moving inventory.
• Support inventory management by monitoring stock levels and reporting discrepancies as needed.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in retail sales or grocery environments is preferred but not required.
• Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
• Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply to better serve our diverse customer base.
• Excellent organizational skills to maintain an orderly work environment.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple tasks efficiently.
• Familiarity with cashiering duties is a plus but can be trained on the job.

Pay: $17.85-$22.00 per hour

Expected hours: 24 – 40 per week
