Ground Worker/ Arborist Assistant

Grounds Person

Join our team! Ballantrae Tree Care is a growing Arboriculture company in York Region. We are looking for a ground person to support our arborists on job sites. This is a seasonal fulltime position.

Duties

• Assist lead-arborist in job site setup, debris removal, cleanup and equipment maintenance.
• Raking up/ leaf blowing job sites.
• Chainsaw and Chipper operation/loading brush – training included
• Loading and unloading equipment
• General tasks (vehicles cleaned, washed, equipment inspection, saws sharpened, firewood production)

Position Requirements

• Can lift a minimum of 50 pounds
• Transportation to the Shop in Ballantrae, ON
• Able to arrive on time with a professional appearance, positive attitude, eagerness to work, fit for work and fully equipped.
• Capable of performing physically demanding manual labour in a variety of weather conditions.
• Able to perform/ be trained in ground support operations such as, but not limited to, rigging, cutting, brush management and chipping, site clean-up, leaving the site as it was when you arrived.

Assets:

• Valid provincial driver's license. Class G license and clean driver abstract.
• Previous expereince working in landscaping or in any outdoor trade.
• Chainsaw training or certification is an asset.
• Interest in arboriculture is an asset
• Previous landscape/horticulture experience considered an asset
• Ability to work safely as part of a team and has a willingness to learn and progress.
• First Aid/CPR considered an asset.

Additional Information

• 40 - 50 hours or more per week (depending on weather and season); the days vary from 8 – 10 hour days, Monday – Friday.
• Typical Start time: 7 AM in Ballantrae, ON
• Seasonal Worker (Spring, Summer, Fall)

Wage Based on experience $19.00 to $21.00 per hour

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $18.00-$21.00 per hour
