Part-Time, Event-Based Leadership Role | Weekends | Windsor-Essex
We are hiring an Assistant Event Coordinator to help supervise event staff, manage assigned operational areas, resolve routine problems, and support the Event Coordinator during live events.
This is a junior leadership and development role for someone who wants to progress into event coordination.
Compensation: $25/hour
Typical shift length: 8 hours
Typical frequency: 1-6 shifts per month
Location: Windsor and Essex County
Responsibilities
- Review event plans before event day
- Attend required pre-event meetings
- Confirm staff attendance and assignments
- Brief and supervise event staff
- Monitor entrances, activities, vendors, and crowd flow
- Reassign staff when coverage changes
- Organize breaks
- Answer frontline staff questions
- Resolve routine customer and vendor complaints
- Apply policies consistently
- Identify developing problems
- Escalate serious issues appropriately
- Track incidents and incomplete tasks
- Lead sections of setup or teardown
- Confirm checklist completion
- Provide post-event staff feedback
- Give the Event Coordinator concise operational updates
- Temporarily manage an event area when the coordinator is occupied
The purpose of this role is to reduce the number of routine operational issues reaching the Event Coordinator.

This role is not a good fit for someone who wants the title without the responsibility, avoids difficult conversations, escalates every decision, struggles to prioritize, or expects immediate promotion.
Requirements
- Prior supervisory, leadership, coordination, or senior event experience
- Reliable weekend availability
- Availability for required pre-event meetings
- Reliable transportation
- Smartphone with mobile data
- Ability to use Slack, digital plans, checklists, forms, and schedules
- Strong written and verbal communication
- Ability to work long shifts
- Ability to remain calm during conflict
- Legal eligibility to work in Canada
First Aid and Smart Serve are assets.
Advancement
Strong performers may progress through:
Assistant Event Coordinator → Event Coordinator → Senior Event Coordinator
