Job Description

Under the direction of the Hospitality Manager, the Dietary Aide supports the delivery of high-quality food services to residents. This role assists with meal preparation, service, sanitation, and food safety compliance, contributing directly to resident satisfaction and overall dining experience.

Key Responsibilities

· Assist with meal preparation, portioning, plating, and serving in accordance with menus, recipes, and dietary requirements

· Prepare salads, desserts, and other menu items as directed

· Serve meals while observing special diet restrictions and resident preferences

· Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen and dining areas

· Operate dishwashers and complete manual ware washing as required

· Date, label, and properly store food items

· Maintain temperature logs and required food service documentation

· Follow Infection Prevention and Control practices

· Adhere to HACCP, WHMIS, Occupational Health and Safety, and Retirement Homes Act standards

· Monitor inventory and report equipment or supply needs

· Respond professionally to resident or family concerns within scope of authority

· Participate in staff meetings, in-services, and training sessions

· Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of the role

Qualifications

· Valid Food Handler’s Certificate

· Smart Serve Certificate

· Previous food service or kitchen support experience

· Ability to lift up to 50 lbs

· Ability to stand for extended periods and tolerate heat in a kitchen environment

· Must be legally eligible to work in Canada

· Experience in a Retirement Home, Long-Term Care, or healthcare environment

· First Aid and CPR certification

· Bilingualism (English/French)

· Knowledge and Skills

· Familiarity with HACCP, WHMIS, Occupational Health and Safety, and sanitation standards

· Strong teamwork and communication skills

· Good organizational and time-management abilities

· Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment

· Professional and courteous approach with residents and families

Pre-Employment Requirements

In accordance with the Retirement Homes Act and site policy, employment is conditional upon satisfactory completion of:

  • Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening
  • Required health clearances as per public health and site policy
  • Proof of eligibility to work in Canada

Schedule

Must be available to work various shifts, including days, evenings, and weekends. Schedules are based on operational requirements and applicable legislation.
