About Simkova Studios

Simkova Studios is a Toronto-based photography studio specializing in luxury wedding, commercial travel, and lifestyle photography. Our work blends editorial storytelling with emotional documentary coverage, and our images have been featured internationally in leading publications.

We are seeking a highly skilled Photo Editor and Colour Grading Specialist to join our team. This role focuses primarily on colour grading wedding galleries in Adobe Lightroom, ensuring that every gallery maintains a refined, cohesive aesthetic aligned with our brand.

Beyond colour grading, the role also involves selective retouching and the use of modern AI-assisted editing tools to bring galleries to their final polished state.

This position is ideal for someone with a strong visual sensibility who enjoys refining large sets of images and bringing them together into a seamless visual story.

Key Responsibilities

Colour Grading & Gallery Consistency

The primary responsibility of this role is colour grading wedding galleries in Lightroom.

You will ensure visual consistency across hundreds to thousands of images captured in varying lighting conditions throughout a wedding day.

This includes:

  • Adjusting colour balance and tone across entire galleries
  • Matching exposures and colour profiles between scenes
  • Ensuring consistency between indoor, outdoor, and mixed lighting situations
  • Maintaining the distinctive Simkova Studios editing style across all delivered work

A strong eye for subtle colour shifts, skin tone accuracy, and tonal balance is essential.

Lightroom Workflow Management

You will manage and execute Lightroom editing workflows for large galleries.

This includes:

  • Batch editing and refining edits across large sets of images
  • Using synchronization and presets while refining images individually where needed
  • Organizing, rating, and preparing galleries for final delivery
  • Maintaining efficient editing workflows while preserving image quality

Retouching & Final Polish

Once colour grading is complete, you will assist with final polishing of key images.

This may include:

  • Natural skin retouching Removing minor distractions
  • Refining colour and tonal adjustments
  • Preparing hero images for print, albums, and publication

You will also work with AI-assisted editing tools where appropriate to increase efficiency while maintaining natural, high-end results.

Collaboration

You will work closely with our photographers and studio team to maintain consistency across projects.

This includes:

  • Interpreting editing direction and style references
  • Maintaining our visual brand standards
  • Communicating clearly when images require additional adjustments
  • Providing feedback when issues appear in original captures that affect editing

Quality Control

Before delivery, you will review galleries carefully to ensure:

  • Colour consistency across the entire set
  • Accurate skin tones Clean retouching that still looks natural
  • Alignment with Simkova Studios' aesthetic standards

Archive & Portfolio Management

Occasionally you will assist with studio organization tasks including:

  • Flagging standout images for print, publication, or portfolio use
  • Assisting in preparing images for social media or editorial submissions
  • Supporting our team in maintaining organized image archives

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of professional experience editing in Adobe Lightroom Advanced understanding of colour grading and tonal consistency across large image sets
  • Experience with Adobe Photoshop for light retouching Familiarity with AI-assisted editing tools is a strong asset
  • Strong understanding of photography fundamentals (lighting, colour temperature, exposure)
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Ability to maintain focus and quality while editing large galleries
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Portfolio demonstrating colour grading and editing work

Technical Requirements

This is a fully remote position.

Applicants must have:

  • Their own computer capable of handling large Lightroom catalogs
  • Their own licensed Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop software
  • A reliable high-speed internet connection for file transfers
  • A calibrated monitor or colour-accurate display is strongly preferred

Additional Information

  • Approximately 20 hours per week, with flexibility depending on season
  • Compensation $30–50/hour depending on experience
