Job Summary:
The Nursery Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily nursery operations and managing the nursery crew. The ideal candidate will have a plant-related background, experience in staff supervision, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Supervision: Lead and supervise the nursery team during peak operational times, ensuring productivity and safety protocols are followed.

Cuttings: Provide training on cutting techniques and track production. Map out greenhouse layouts for stock placement and coordinate with vegetation suppliers to ensure adequate material availability.

Sowing : Provide quality control of sowing operation, track totals and record keeping for production purposes. Understand seedlots and crop IDs as they pertain to the nursery layout.

Thinning: Work closely with the grow team to perform thinning activities. Ensure proper inventories are taken before thinning, provide training on thinning techniques. Maintain accurate production tracking and uphold quality control standards.

Weeding: Organize and manage weeding crews, ensuring that all areas of the nursery are maintained and free from weeds. Track work hours and ensure weeding tasks are focused on the highest-priority areas.

Harvesting: Assist in quality control during the harvest process and provide training to staff on the proper harvesting techniques.

Quality Assurance: Oversee the nursery’s quality assurance program, ensuring proper collection, documentation, and monitoring of plants from greenhouse to field. Maintain accurate and thorough records for quality control purposes.

Qualifications:

· Prior experience in nursery or horticultural management is preferred.

· Strong leadership skills with the ability to train and manage staff effectively.

· Knowledge of plant care, cutting techniques, and greenhouse operations.

· Attention to detail, particularly in production tracking, quality control, and documentation.

· Excellent communication skills to liaise with other team members

· Ability to manage time efficiently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Physical Requirements:

· Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs.

· Comfortable working outdoors and in varying weather conditions.

· Capable of standing, bending, and walking for extended periods.
