Machine Operator

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

Responsible for running produce machines ensuring high standards of quality, appropriate weights, and specifications for specific customers.

KEY RESULTS AREAS:

PRODUCTION:

• Responsible for running the product machines (eg. bagger) running at full capacity
• Ensure that proper ribbons and labels are being used for packaging
• Understand grades and size requirements for different customers (i.e. Loblaws vs. Wal-Mart etc.)
• Act as a mentor for new employees (i.e. grading standards)
• Control conveyors
• Identify any issues with the machines and communicate to Production Equipment Supervisor
• Ensure good manufacturing practices are adhered to at all times
• Adhere to the company’s production standard operating procedures
• Immediately report any quality issues to Production Supervisor
• Maintain safety awareness in the production areas
• Follow and adhere to the company’s safety program at all times
• Ensure all personal protective safety equipment is worn when specified by standard operating procedures
• Report all unsafe working conditions to the production manager immediately
• Other duties as assigned

OTHER:

• High School Diploma
• Relevant experience an asset

· Follow directions, standard instructions, make minor decisions and keep mind on task

· Intermittent standing, sitting, driving, walking, climbing, and stooping

· Lift up to 20kg (44lbs)

· Exposure to dust, dirt and grime

· Safe handling of chemicals and tools

· Follow all safety rules and regulations

· Be available to work hours needed including afternoon shift during peak season

· Treat everyone with respect

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $18.48-$23.10 per hour
