Job description:
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Accounting and Payroll Administration Instructor to join our educational team. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality instruction to students in accounting and payroll administration programs. The instructor will guide students through practical and theoretical learning, preparing them for careers in accounting, bookkeeping, and payroll compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging and effective classroom or online instruction in accounting, payroll, and related business courses.
- Teach topics such as financial accounting, payroll compliance, bookkeeping, QuickBooks, Sage, and Microsoft Excel etc.
- Develop lesson plans, instructional materials, assessments, and activities aligned with the program curriculum.
- Provide real-world insights, examples, and case studies to enhance student understanding.
- Monitor student progress and provide academic support, feedback, and mentorship.
- Prepare, administer, and grade assignments, exams, and projects.
- Maintain accurate student records, including attendance and grades.
- Stay current with industry standards, legislation (e.g., CRA regulations), and software used in the field.
- Collaborate with academic staff to ensure curriculum relevance and consistency.
- Support students in preparing for certifications, such as the Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) from the Canadian Payroll Association (if applicable).

Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years of full time work related experience.
- A minimum 1 year of instructional/teaching experience or hold a training certificate in adult education.
- A degree, diploma, certificate or a professional designation in a related field.
- Prior teaching or training experience is an asset.
- Strong knowledge of Canadian accounting and payroll legislation (e.g., CRA, Employment Standards).
- Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to explain complex concepts in a clear and engaging manner.
- Strong organizational and classroom management skills.
- Commitment to student success and academic excellence.
Preferred Qualifications :
- Experience teaching in a post-secondary or private career college environment.
- Experience with online teaching platforms (e.g., Moodle, Blackboard, Zoom, Brightspace).
