Job Title: Diagnostic Medical Sonographer

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited program in Ultrasound
  • Registration and in good standing with the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging

Technologists of Ontario (CMRITO)

  • Provide proof of personal liability insurance as per CMRITO guidelines
  • Registration and in good standing with Sonography Canada (SonoCan) as a Generalist

Sonographer (CRGS) preferred

  • Competence required in Abdomen, Pelvic and Small parts Ultrasound
  • Experience in Obstetrical, Vascular, Breast and MSK is considered an asset
  • FMF NT certification and registration with BORN is considered an asset
  • CPR and First Aid courses may be required
  • Demonstrates ability to read, write and speak in English with the ability to communicate with patients
  • Excellent attendance record
  • Demonstrates strong organizational skills with the ability to complete exams in a timely manner
  • Maintains a high degree of confidentiality

Responsibilities

  • Performs Ultrasound examinations based on clinical information provided by the referring physician
  • Demonstrates excellent bedside manner while preparing and positioning the patient for their examination
  • Ability to provide the best possible diagnostic image quality and document findings accurately for the reviewing Radiologist
  • Utilizes RIS/PACS software effectively
  • Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ensures equipment and instruments are functioning in an optimal manner and follows procedures for appropriate equipment maintenance
  • Follows disinfection protocol for endocavity transducers and ensures room is kept disinfected between patients using appropriate PPE
  • Exhibits professionalism with staff and patients
  • Assesses patient capabilities, limitations and adapt to their needs
  • Complete required continuing education yearly, including compliance with regulatory bodies

(Public Health Ontario, Health and Safety Legislation and CMRITO)

  • Demonstrates teamwork by collaborating well with staff and other medical personnel to achieve excellent patient care
  • Participate in peer review

Pay: $31.27-$48.09 per hour
