Job Overview

The Assistant Yard Manager is committed to achieving Doidge Building Centres Ltd.’s sales and service goals while providing customers with the best shopping experience possible. The Assistant Yard Manager will develop and maintain effective services as designated by the Yard Manager and Branch Manager.

DUTIES

  • Works with Yard Manager to oversee and maintain Doidge Building Centres Ltd Yard Standards, Commitment to Service, and Initiatives.
  • Designate Yard Manager in the Yard Manager’s absence; Delegates tasks, initiatives, and follows up to ensure completion
  • Works with Yard Manager to oversee and maintain Doidge Building Centres Ltd Yard Standards, Commitment to Service, and Initiatives.

  • Develops and monitors preventative maintenance programs
  • Ensures proper and safe handling and storage of inventory products to minimize any damage and contribute to the year-end profitability of the operation.
  • Plans and prepares the yard for winter preparation to minimize damages and effective snow removal.
  • Plans the delivery of incoming product so that material has a “home” upon its arrival.
  • Effectively manages the transfer of product to other yards in accurate and effective manner to keep costs to a minimum.
  • Meets with the purchasing team regularly to understand and pre-plan all incoming orders.
  • Provides accurate and timely deliveries in a proactive manner
  • Ensure inventory integrity and identify potential sources of inventory losses. Implement corrective measures as required in conjunction with the Branch Manager
  • Follows up on Stock–out and inventory control for departments.
  • Shrink conscious and works diligently to reduce loss

Qualifications:

  • Positive attitude and proven ability to lead the team in a culture of sales and service
  • Provide exceptional customer service by inspiring and motivating others through commitment and leading by example
  • High energy level that is demonstrated in the yard and warehouses while monitoring and providing direction and leadership for others
  • Able to set priorities and deliver results within deadlines
  • Ability to remain calm in stressful situations
  • Minimum of Class DZ licence
  • Must have forklift certified training.

Pay: $23.00-$25.00 per hour
