Job Description

The Fire Alarm Senior Technician is responsible for the inspection, testing, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, installation, verification, programming, and commissioning of fire alarm systems. This position plays a key leadership role by mentoring junior technicians, ensuring work is completed to the highest quality standards, and maintaining exceptional customer relationships.

Task & Responsibilities:

Perform weekly, monthly, semi-annual, annual, and five-year fire alarm inspections as required by applicable codes and standards.
Inspect, test, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair fire alarm systems and related life safety equipment.
Install, program, verify, commission, and document new fire alarm systems and system upgrades.
Diagnose system deficiencies and complete repairs efficiently.
Complete fire alarm verification in accordance with CAN/ULC-S537.
Read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, sequence of operations, and wiring diagrams.
Prepare accurate inspection reports, deficiency reports, service documentation, and work orders.
Ensure compliance with the Ontario Building Code, Ontario Fire Code, CAN/ULC-S524, CAN/ULC-S536, CAN/ULC-S537, and other applicable standards.
Coordinate with project managers, electricians, consultants, contractors, and customers throughout installations and service work.
Train, mentor, and support junior technicians and apprentices through knowledge transfer and technical guidance.
Participate in the company's rotating on-call schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
Maintain company tools, equipment, service vehicle, and inventory.
Promote a safe work environment by following all company health and safety policies.
Participate in the on-call rotation.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

CFAA Registered Technician.
Minimum 5 years of experience in the fire alarm industry.
Strong troubleshooting, diagnostic, and electronic skills.
Experience with fire alarm inspections, service, programming, verification, commissioning, and installations.
Strong knowledge of applicable fire alarm codes and standards.
Experience with Notifier by Honeywell is considered a strong asset.
Experience with intercom, security, access control, or nurse call systems is considered an asset.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Ability to prepare professional inspection reports and documentation.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Teams, Excel, and Word.
Self-motivated with a strong commitment to customer service.
Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
Valid Ontario G Driver's Licence with a clean driver's abstract
