Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Lead Carpenter to join our growing team. This role is ideal for someone with strong leadership ability and hands-on experience in mass timber installation, along with comfort working around structural steel and miscellaneous metals.
You will play a key role in delivering complex commercial and industrial projects, ensuring high-quality workmanship, maintaining safety standards, and leading crews on-site. This position offers the opportunity to work on unique and technically challenging builds while contributing to a team committed to excellence.
Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate site crews in the installation of mass timber systems (CLT, glulam, etc.)
- Interpret and execute work based on structural drawings, shop drawings, and engineered plans
- Perform advanced carpentry including framing, layout, and structural installations
- Work alongside and coordinate with teams installing structural steel and miscellaneous metals
- Assist with rigging, hoisting, and sequencing of large structural components (including crane picks)
- Ensure all work is completed to specification, schedule, and safety standards
- Conduct site layout and verify measurements prior to installation
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other trades to resolve site challenges
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized job site
- Mentor and train junior carpenters and apprentices
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Lead Carpenter or Senior Carpenter
- Direct experience installing mass timber systems (CLT, glulam, LVL, etc.)
- Strong understanding of structural steel integration and working around steel trades
- Ability to confidently read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and engineered details
- Experience with rigging, crane work, and large component installation is highly preferred
- Proficient with hand tools, power tools, and layout equipment
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
- High attention to detail with a commitment to quality craftsmanship
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing site conditions
- Physically capable of heavy lifting and working in various site conditions
Nice to Have
- Experience in commercial or industrial construction
- Knowledge of temporary works, bracing, and erection sequencing
- Fall protection, rigging, or lift certifications

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $22.00-$38.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 – 60 per week
