About the Role

Best Brains Learning Centre is looking for a passionate and experienced Reading & Math Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in phonics-based reading instruction and elementary mathematics, helping students develop essential literacy and numeracy skills in a supportive learning environment.

Responsibilities

• Teach reading using systematic phonics and structured literacy instruction.
• Develop students' phonemic awareness, decoding, fluency, vocabulary, spelling, grammar, and reading comprehension.
• Build strong foundational literacy skills to prepare students for independent reading and academic success.
• Teach creative writing, including sentence structure, paragraph writing, storytelling, and essay writing.
• Help students develop confidence in public speaking, presentations, and verbal communication.
• Teach elementary Math (Grades 1–8), including number sense, arithmetic, fractions, decimals, geometry, measurement, algebraic thinking & problem-solving.
• Assess student progress and provide regular feedback to parents and the Centre Director.
• Maintain a positive, engaging, and student-centered classroom environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of teaching or tutoring experience in reading, literacy, and elementary mathematics.
• Strong knowledge of phonics and structured literacy instruction.
• Ability to teach Elementary Math with confidence.
• Bachelor's degree in Education, English, Math, or a related field.
• Ontario Certified Teacher (OCT) or equivalent teaching certification is preferred.
• Excellent communication, classroom management, and organizational skills.

Pay: $20.00-$21.00 per hour

Experience:

• Teaching: 2 years (required)

Language:

• English (preferred)

Licence/Certification:

• OCT (preferred)
