Farm hand and apiarist

Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Farm Hand to support daily operations on our agricultural property. This role involves hands-on work with bees primarily. Other tasks include small crop cultivation, cleaning the barn and tending to chickens and ducks, and general farm tasks. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, physical stamina, and a passion for bees, farming and outdoor work. This position offers an opportunity to gain practical experience in apiculture and small scale farming.

Responsibilities

• Moving necessary beekeeping equipment to maintain a constant flow of work
• Aid in handling bees and locating queens
• Packaging nucs
• Moving bees via truck and trailer to various locations
• Harvesting, packaging, labelling, and delivering honey
• Assist with planting, watering, fertilizing, and harvesting crops using appropriate tools and equipment
• Use hand tools and power tools for various tasks including repairs, fencing, and land clearing
• Conduct general farm upkeep including weed whacking, weeding, harvesting, pest control
• Heavy lifting of supplies, equipment, honey, supers full of bees
• Follow safety protocols during all operations to prevent accidents or injuries
• Support other farm activities such as livestock care if applicable

Qualifications

• Basic gardening experience preferred
• Ability to operate heavy equipment safely and efficiently
• Strong physical stamina with the ability to perform heavy lifting and manual labor for extended periods
• Basic math skills for measurements, calculations, and record keeping
• Prior experience working on a farm or in agricultural settings is advantageous but not mandatory
• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and follow safety guidelines at all times

Job Type: Seasonal
Contract length: 4-6 months

Pay: $17.20-$20.00 per hour
