Full job description

Dunbar Animal Hospital is a well-established, independently owned small animal practice in Vancouver. We are currently looking for a Veterinary Assistant / Receptionist to join our friendly and supportive team.

This is a hybrid role ideal for someone who enjoys both hands-on patient care and front-desk client interaction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist veterinarians during exams, treatments, and procedures
  • Safely restrain cats and dogs
  • Prepare exam rooms and assist with basic diagnostics and lab work
  • Monitor patients before and after procedures
  • Maintain accurate medical records
  • Greet clients and patients professionally and compassionately
  • Answer phones, schedule appointments, and manage daily bookings
  • Process payments, invoices, and estimates
  • Communicate clearly with clients regarding treatments and follow-up care
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • 1 years of experience in a veterinary industry preferred
  • Experience as a veterinary assistant, receptionist, or combined role is an asset
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to multitask in a busy environment
  • Comfortable handling animals of various temperaments
  • Reliable, detail-oriented, and a team player
