Water Treatment Technician – Junior Sales Pathway

Pay: From CA$60,000.00 per year + performance-based bonuses + company vehicle

Job Description

Join our dedicated team of Water Treatment Service Technicians and make an impact in the water industry! ControlChem is seeking a full-time Field Technician with a career path into Junior Sales to support clients across the Greater Toronto Area (GTA).

This role begins with a 6–12 month training period as a Field Service Technician, where you will gain hands-on technical knowledge while working directly with clients to understand water treatment systems. Throughout this stage, we value individuals who bring honesty, a trustworthy work ethic, and a friendly personality that helps build lasting client relationships. After training, successful candidates will transition into a hybrid role, combining service responsibilities with junior sales activities—including prospecting, connecting with new clients, and developing strong, reliable accounts.

Responsibilities and Duties

Training & Technician Responsibilities (6–12 months)

  • Work independently in the field, traveling with a company vehicle to service client locations throughout the GTA.
  • Conduct water system tests and optimize chemical treatment programs and controller units.
  • Gather technical data from clients, make system recommendations, and document reports through ControlChem Connect.
  • Build strong client relationships to ensure retention and satisfaction.
  • Participate in internal and customer meetings as required.

Transition to Junior Sales (Post-Training)

  • Sales prospecting, cold/warm calling, and engaging with new prospects.
  • Carry out sales activities to develop new accounts and grow existing business.
  • Support senior sales staff while gradually building an independent sales portfolio.
  • Balance service responsibilities with achieving sales growth targets.

Desired Skills

Education & Technical:

  • Diploma or bachelor’s degree in a science-related field (e.g., Chemistry, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related).
  • Strong technical aptitude and ability to quickly adapt to new software applications.
  • Comfortable with technology, reporting systems, and digital communication tools.

Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in either sales or a technical field.
  • Previous experience in water treatment, industrial, or HVAC environments is beneficial (but not required).

Technician & Service:

  • Professional, adaptable, and customer-focused.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Willingness to learn, adapt, and grow into a hybrid role.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in either sales or a technical field.
  • ControlChem provides WHMIS, TDG, and First Aid training.
  • Police background check may be required.
  • Clean driver’s abstract.
