Company Profile:
Omni-McCann (omnimccann.com) operates in Canada’s Central and Prairie regions, providing a range of engineering and geo-environmental services for public and private entities of all sizes, relating to the core service areas of waste management and the geo-environment.
We are looking for engaged and dynamic individuals to grow with us as we focus on providing innovative and technically-sound solutions combined with an above average customer experience.
Position Description:

As Waste Management Engineer, you will oversee and provide key technical services for our prairie-west portfolio, managing and providing technical input on assignments that are primarily related to the management, diversion, disposal, and monitoring of waste.
Your strong technical and project management skills will serve to expand our technical capabilities on other municipal infrastructure and development projects, and your strong relationship management skills will contribute to positive collaboration with both internal and external stakeholders. Technical mentorship is also a central component of this position.
Duties:
The successful candidate will undertake and/or oversee the following:

- Landfill air space/life expectancy calculations and associated reporting.
- Submission of applications for landfill approvals and approval renewals.
- Assessment of landfill final cover material.
- Landfill operations cost analyses and reporting.
- Closure and post-closure fund assessments and reports.
- Professional client communications/liaison (written and verbal), contractor and sub-consultant liaison, cost estimation and control in accordance with established budgets.

- Supporting and occasionally carrying out field programs related to one or more of the following: Various survey projects, including preliminary surveys and construction surveys as required for construction projects and waste surface surveying; Waste management-related construction (e.g. Liner installation and construction, final cover systems, landfill gas collection systems, leachate and stormwater ponds, roads, berms, and drainage) surveying, inspection, and contract administration; Pre-design hydrogeotechnical investigations.
- Secure long-term clients by maintaining/managing effective client relationships.
- Support corporate business development goals and initiatives.
- Participate in and/or oversee bid and proposal submissions.
This role is primarily office-based; however, travel and site work are required. The percentage of site work is expected to be less than 25% of the candidate’s overall workload, though periods of increased site work may be required during construction oversight projects or when providing support for other offices.
Qualifications:
- University degree in engineering with specialization in civil engineering or equivalent.
- Minimum four (4) years of related work experience in a civil engineering and/or waste management capacity.
- Registered P.Eng. or P.L. with APEGA and/or another professional engineering licensing body in another Canadian jurisdiction (with ability to be registered with APEGA), or ability to become registered within 6-months of onboarding.
- Experience and basic proficiency with AutoCad considered an asset.

- Experience with geotechnical/environmental projects considered an asset.
