Full job description

Computer Upgrading Specialists Ltd. provides technicians for full-time, contract positions with multi-national IT companies. Our IT clients include Compugen, Insight, Softchoice, CompuCom and others. Our technicians typically work on site at Suncor, Cenovus, Alberta Government and other Fortune 500 companies.

Positions typically involve 2 weeks to 6 month term contract with Computer Upgrading Specialists, sometimes converted into full-time permanent with our client at the conclusion of the term. Computer Upgrading Specialists Ltd. have promoted nearly 830 of our technicians to full-time permanent positions without clients over the past 30 years.

Positions typically involve system configuration, deployment, troubleshooting, deskside and network support; and hardware servicing on large scale deployment projects in the province of Alberta.

Technicians work in a challenging team environment with excellent guidance and training provided. You will gain great support experience as well as make many career contacts.

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience administering Microsoft Intune and/or Configuration Manager (SCCM/MECM)
  • Hands-on experience with Windows OS deployment and remote software distribution
  • Strong understanding of Windows client management, application deployment, policies, and device compliance
  • Experience troubleshooting failed deployments across remote Windows endpoints
  • Strong ability to read and interpret SCCM/Intune client logs and Windows Event Viewer logs
  • Ability to correlate multiple logs to identify the point of failure and root cause
  • Experience troubleshooting application installation, detection, content download, and deployment failures
  • Experience with PowerShell for troubleshooting and automation
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Entra ID, Active Directory, Group Policy, networking, DNS, DHCP, and Windows Update
  • Ability to document troubleshooting findings and provide clear remediation steps

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Design, configure, and manage Windows OS deployments using Microsoft Configuration Manager (SCCM/MECM) and/or Intune.
  • Create and maintain OS deployment task sequences, deployment rings, application packages, drivers, updates, and prerequisites.
  • Configure device collections, Entra ID/AD groups, deployment assignments, exclusions, and targeting.
  • Manage content distribution to remote devices, including distribution points, cloud content, Delivery Optimization, or equivalent mechanisms.
  • Monitor deployment status and identify failed, pending, inactive, or non-compliant devices.
  • Coordinate phased/pilot deployments before broad production rollout.
  • Develop rollback/recovery procedures for failed OS deployments.
  • Analyze client and server-side deployment logs to troubleshoot OS, application, content distribution, policy, and installation failures; identify the point of failure, determine root cause, and implement or recommend corrective action.

Pay: $27.00-$30.00 per hour
