Job description:

Qualifications : Diploma or Degree in Child and Youth Care, Social Sciences, Human Services, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience

  • Experience working with children and youth, including young people with complex emotional, behavioural, developmental, or mental health needs
  • Demonstrated ability to build respectful, supportive relationships with youth and families
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to remain calm and effective in challenging situations
  • Commitment to non-judgemental, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive practice
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development, reflective practice, and lifelong learning
  • Standard First AID/CPR
  • Valid Driver's License and access to personal vehicle
  • Successful Criminal Record, Vulnerable Sector, and Child Protection checks

Duties and Responsibilities: Responsible for the care and supervision of young people, ages 8-18, in residential programs. Duties include life skills teaching; supportive counseling; crisis intervention; planning and participating in educational, social and recreational activities; and report writing

Child and Youth Care Workers provide direct care, supervision, guidance, and support to young people ages 8-18 residing in Waypoints group care programs. Staff help create safe, nurturing, and structured environments where youth can build skills, strengthen relationships, and work toward their personal goals.

Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, Child and Youth Care Workers support youth through everyday life experiences while promoting resilience, emotional regulation, healthy decision-making, and positive development.

Job Type: Casual - guaranteed 40 hours biweekly
