Full job description
Job Purpose: A Machine Operator’s duties and responsibilities dictate the safety and efficiency of everyone around them. Machine Operators must remain focused and diligent in performing their tasks correctly and with care to keep everything running smoothly.
Key Job Elements
Duties and responsibilities
- Participate in and adhere to all Safety Policies, programs and PPE requirements
- Experience working on a Lathe and Milling machine in production environment
- Setting up equipment for daily use
- Maintaining equipment and machinery so they can operate safely
- Maintaining the understanding of operating procedures for their machines
- Proposing improvement to the process or machines as needed
- Using hand tools
- Keep work areas hazard free, sweep, clean and put tools away
- Reporting safety hazards within the work environment
- To participate in Safety related briefings like Safety stand down etc.
Advanced duties and responsibilities
- Experience with reading drawings and specifications
- Knowledge and experience working with measuring tools
- Experience working with Milling machines and lathe
- Good communication skills to communicate with management team as required
Qualifications, Experience, Education
- Operation of Overhead cranes
- Prefer High School Education or GED
- 2-3 years of related experience in Manufacturing
- Able to speak and write in French and English is an asset
Essential and Physical Activities Functions:
- Strength – Position involves work in shop environment. Involves standing, and walking as well, must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, push and pull up to 75 pounds. Use of forklift, pump truck, and other equipment used in shop
- Motion – Position regularly requires standard repetitive motions and hand/eye coordination associated with operation of machinery. May require bending, lifting, standing, climbing, kneeling, crouching, walking, etc.
- Vision/Hearing Requirements – Constant verbal communications, including both talking and hearing.
- Work Environment – Position involves work in a non-temperature-controlled facility. Position is an industrial environment, including potential for noise (85+ decibels), exposure to temperature changes, exposure to hazardous materials, heavy equipment, high levels of dust, and other hazardous working conditions.
- Emotional Demands – Responsible for audits and reporting. Requires interpersonal skills and communication.
- Safety – Position required to follow all safety guidelines and requirements.

- Montréal, QC: reliably commute or be willing to relocate with an employer-provided relocation package (preferred)
Experience:
- Machine Operator in Heavy Machinery Industry: 2 years (preferred)
