The Freebird Market operates a modern, chef-driven production kitchen in Etobicoke. From our 7,500 sq. ft. facility, we produce fresh prepared meals, salads, sandwiches, proteins, sauces, baked goods, and large-scale catering items for cafés, corporate clients, retail customers, and events across the city.

We are a fast-growing company that values teamwork, consistency, professionalism, and a positive kitchen culture. We are currently looking for a reliable and hardworking Production Cook to join our team immediately.

Position Overview

The Production Cook plays a key role in daily kitchen operations by preparing and cooking high-volume food items while maintaining excellent quality, organization, and food safety standards.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys structured production work, works well under pressure, and takes pride in consistency and efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook large-batch food items according to recipes and production schedules
• Execute daily prep for proteins, soups, sauces, salads, sides, sandwiches, and catering items
• Portion, label, and properly store products following FIFO procedures
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness, organization, and food safety
• Keep stations stocked, clean, and service-ready throughout shifts
• Assist with additional kitchen tasks as needed, including prep, pastry, and catering support
• Communicate effectively with kitchen leadership and team members
• Participate in daily and weekly cleaning tasks

Qualifications

• 1–2+ years of experience in a production, catering, or high-volume kitchen
• Strong fundamental cooking skills including roasting, braising, soups, sauces, and batch cooking
• Ability to follow recipes accurately and consistently
• Strong time management and organizational skills
• Comfortable lifting up to 40–50 lbs and standing for extended periods
• Food Handler Certification preferred (or willingness to obtain)
• Reliable, punctual, team-oriented, and professional
• Must have open availability for evenings and weekends — this is a requirement for the position
• Availability for early mornings as required
