Full job description

Inkeros is Canada’s fastest-growing Omnichannel Marketing Vendor with operations coast to coast nationwide.

Our team is expanding rapidly and we are looking to hire an experienced and detail-oriented Financial Controller with a CPA designation to join our team on-site in our Vancouver location.

DUTIES + RESPONSIBILITIES:

General Accounting and Bookkeeping:

  • Perform full cycle accounting including bookkeeping functions (as necessary) with no or minimal staff assistance
  • Oversee and direct the work of the Bookkeeping service provider
  • Working with company Accounting firm as required for year end preparations
  • Manage and Administer Payroll
  • Administration of group benefits
  • Track and process monthly invoices received from all contractors and vendors
  • Cooperate with auditors to minimize audit testing and expense (usually between late July and mid-August, following June 30th fiscal year end)
  • Preparation of year-end T4As
  • Maintain employee records according to policy and legal requirements
  • Monthly expense and credit card tracking and reconciliation
  • Maintaining and updating all QBO entries

Financial Strategy and Planning:

  • Develop and execute the company's financial strategy in line with overall business objectives
  • Collaborate with executive management to identify and execute financial opportunities for growth, expansion, and profitability
  • Lead the creation of long-term financial plans and forecasts

Budgeting and Forecasting:

  • Manage the budgeting process, working closely with department heads to create accurate and comprehensive budgets aligned with organizational goals
  • Monitor and analyze financial performance against budgets and forecasts, identifying variances and recommending corrective actions as needed

Audit and Tax Management:

  • Oversee the preparation and coordination of financial audits, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Manage relationships with external auditors and tax advisors, ensuring timely and accurate completion of all tax filings and audits
  • Develop and implement strategies to minimize tax liabilities while ensuring compliance with tax laws

Financial Reporting and Analysis:

  • Provide accurate and timely financial information and reports to senior management, the board, and stakeholders
  • Conduct financial analysis, including profitability, feasibility studies, and scenario modeling to support strategic decisions

Cash Flow Management:

  • Monitor and manage cash flow to optimize liquidity and ensure the company's financial health
  • Implement strategies to manage working capital effectively

Risk Management:

  • Identify and assess financial risks and implement strategies to mitigate these risks
  • Develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with regulations

Team Leadership and Development:

  • Lead and mentor the finance team, fostering a culture of high performance, continuous improvement, and professional development
  • Collaborate with other departments to drive cross-functional initiatives and achieve overall company objectives

KEY COMPETENCIES (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities):

  • Prior experience in full-cycle accounting
  • Experience working in a regulatory environment
  • Attention to detail and critical thinking skills; excellent documentation and reporting experience
  • Computer skills (Microsoft 365 suite including Outlook, Teams, Sharepoint, OneDrive, Dynamics; Adobe Acrobat; Zoom; etc)
  • Excellent time management
  • Experience with handling confidential information
  • Strong analytical abilities, accounting knowledge, good leadership and communication skills, and proficient use of financial software (Sage)

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE:

  • 5+ years working as a Controller, Director of Finance, or CFO.
  • Minimum 5-7 years relevant Canadian experience
  • 2+ years of experience owning your role as a Senior Accountant or Accounting Manager in a public practice firm
  • Educational background pursuing a Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Accounting or Finance with an accredited institution
  • Technically versed in cloud-based accounting software systems, such as QuickBooks Online and Xero
  • Exceptionally communication and listening abilities to identify client needs, brainstorm solutions, and exceed client expectations
  • A motivated, 'go-getter' attitude, ready to take on whatever hurdles may arise during the day
  • Someone who is detail-oriented and appreciates going the extra mile to complete the task at hand
  • Flourishes in constant change and a 'problem solving' environment
  • Open to learning, coaching, and growing within the company
