Our LPNs work a broad scope focused on meeting the resident’s physical, social and spiritual needs through partnerships with the resident, the resident’s family and the entire care team.

Job Responsibilities:

• Ensure resident care is provided within established nursing standards and principles, physicians’ orders and administrative policies.
• Observe, report and record vital signs, symptoms and conditions of residents, and initiate remedial health measures where appropriate. Assure observance of required techniques in nursing care.
• Assess residents and help develop, implement, review and evaluate resident care plans.
• Monitor residents’ health, notes changes in condition and assess need for referral to doctors; processes and implement physician orders.

• Constantly moves/lifts up to 10 lbs., regularly moves/lifts up to 25 lbs. and occasionally is required to reposition/move/ lift up to 30 lbs. Pushes/pulls up to medium force.
• Constantly stands/walks and works in awkward or cramped positions to assist with procedures.
• Constantly uses fine finger/precision, auditory, sensory and visual concentration to provide and conduct risk assessments, observe/monitor patients, to complete documents, follow directions, administer medications, etc.

Hours of Work:

Chancellor Park operates on a rotational shift schedule in 12 hour shifts. Part time and casual opportunities also available in 4, 8 or 12 hour shifts.

Job Qualifications

• Successful completion of an approved Practical Nursing program.
• Current licensure with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Newfoundland and Labrador (CLPNNL) or eligible for same.
• Current BLS certification is required.
• Gerontology and or palliative care experience considered an asset.
• Demonstrated strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Demonstrated initiative and the ability to work independently.
