Position Summary

The Facilities & Property Manager is responsible for the hands-on care, maintenance, and operational readiness of Adult & Teen Challenge’s facilities in the Northern MB area. This role combines daily, on-site maintenance work with oversight of contractors and larger projects to ensure all buildings are safe, functional, and well-maintained.

This individual will take ownership of day-to-day facility needs while supporting ongoing renovations, tenant spaces, and future expansion. The role requires a proactive, hands-on approach to maintaining excellence across all ministry properties.

Key Responsibilities

1. Daily Facility Care (Hands-On)

- Conduct daily walkthroughs of facilities to identify maintenance needs

- Perform routine, hands-on maintenance, including:

- Snow and ice removal, and ensuring safe access to entrances and walkways

- General upkeep of building interiors and exteriors

- Replacing ceiling tiles, minor drywall repair, painting, and finishing work

- Basic electrical tasks (light fixtures, switches, minor troubleshooting)

- Light plumbing repairs (leaks, fixtures, clogs)

- Ensure cleanliness, safety, and functionality of all spaces

2. Maintenance & Repairs

- Respond quickly to maintenance issues across all facilities

- Troubleshoot problems and determine whether to resolve internally or escalate

- Maintain tools, equipment, and supplies needed for ongoing work

3. Contractor & Project Coordination

- Coordinate and oversee external contractors for specialized work and major renovations

- Support redevelopment projects including retail, residential, and ministry spaces

- Ensure quality, timelines, and cost-effectiveness of all contracted work

4. Portfolio-Wide Facility Oversight

- Provide consistent care and maintenance across all ministry facilities

- Travel between sites as required to ensure operational excellence

- Adapt to additional properties as the organization grows

5. Preventative Maintenance & Systems

- Develop and maintain preventative maintenance schedules

- Track repairs, recurring issues, and maintenance costs

- Identify potential risks early and take corrective action

6. Tenant & Occupant Support

- Respond to tenant and staff maintenance requests in a timely and professional manner

- Minimize disruption to tenants and ministry programming during repairs

- Help maintain a positive and well-managed environment for all occupants

7. Ministry Alignment

- Demonstrate stewardship and excellence in caring for ministry assets

- Contribute to environments that are safe, welcoming, and dignified

- Support the mission and values of Adult & Teen Challenge in all work

Key Outcomes (What Success Looks Like)

- Facilities are consistently safe, clean, and well-maintained

- Daily issues are addressed immediately, not allowed to accumulate

- Preventative maintenance reduces costly repairs over time

- Renovation and expansion projects are well-supported

- Buildings effectively support ministry, tenants, and growth

Qualifications & Experience

Required

- 3–7+ years of hands-on building maintenance or facilities experience

- Strong working knowledge of:

- Basic electrical

- Plumbing

- Carpentry / finishing work

- Ability and willingness to perform physical, daily maintenance work

- Experience troubleshooting and resolving issues independently

Preferred

- Experience across multiple buildings or a growing facility portfolio

- Experience supporting renovation or construction projects

- Familiarity with commercial, residential, or mixed-use properties

Skills & Competencies

- Strong hands-on problem-solving ability

- Self-starter with high ownership and accountability

- Able to balance daily tasks with longer-term priorities

- Organized and systems-minded

- Clear and professional communication

- Physically capable of lifting, climbing, and working in various conditions

- Willingness to work outdoors in all seasons (including winter conditions)

- Willingness to take and complete assigned training

Education & Certifications

- Preferred: Trade certification or relevant technical training

- Assets: WHMIS and workplace safety certifications, Valid driver’s license
