Reports to: Project Controls Manager / Project Manager
Position Type: Full-time, Project Based

COMPANY OVERVIEW

Domaco-Encocorp Construction (DEC) is a leading EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) contractor specializing in the full-cycle development of mission-critical data centers across North America. With decades of combined experience and a strong portfolio of successful data center builds, our team is committed to delivering high-performance infrastructure that meets the most rigorous industry standards. Our integrated approach brings together design, engineering, and construction expertise to ensure precision, speed, and quality at every stage.

POSITION SUMMARY

DEC is seeking a detail-oriented Project Planner to support planning, work packaging, and execution readiness for a data center construction project in Montreal. This role plays a critical part in ensuring project activities are properly planned, logically sequenced, and aligned with construction execution strategies in a fast-paced EPC environment.

The Project Planner will work closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, Project Controls, Engineering, Procurement, and subcontractor teams to develop execution plans, support short-interval planning, and ensure work is properly defined and ready for schedule integration. The ideal candidate has strong organizational skills, a solid understanding of construction sequencing, and hands-on experience supporting planning functions on complex infrastructure projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Project Planning & Work Packaging

  • Support development of project execution plans, work breakdown structures (WBS), and work packages.
  • Assist in defining scope, deliverables, and sequencing requirements across project phases.
  • Coordinate with field and engineering teams to ensure work packages are complete and ready for execution.

Planning Support & Coordination

  • Support look-ahead planning, short-interval planning, and weekly work planning activities.
  • Coordinate with Superintendents, Foremen, and subcontractors to confirm planned activities and constraints.
  • Assist with planning alignment between construction, procurement, and engineering deliverables.

Progress Tracking & Reporting

  • Monitor planned vs. actual performance and identify constraints impacting planned work.
  • Support preparation of progress updates, planning reports, and dashboards for leadership review.
  • Track and communicate planning-related risks, delays, or scope gaps.

Schedule Integration & Support

  • Work closely with the Scheduler to ensure work plans are accurately reflected in the project schedule.
  • Assist with sequencing reviews, schedule logic validation, and planning-driven schedule updates.
  • Support recovery planning, mitigation strategies, and change event planning efforts.

Field Readiness & Constraint Management

  • Identify and track constraints such as material availability, permits, design releases, and manpower.
  • Coordinate with Procurement and Engineering teams to resolve constraints and maintain execution readiness.
  • Support development of action plans to ensure upcoming work fronts are ready as scheduled.

Team Collaboration

  • Coordinate with Project Controls, Engineering, Procurement, and Construction teams.
  • Promote planning discipline, accountability, and execution readiness across project teams.
  • Support closeout planning activities and lessons learned documentation.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Experience

  • Background in construction management, engineering, project controls, or a related field.
  • 3–7 years of experience supporting project planning functions on industrial or commercial construction projects.
  • Experience with data centers, mission-critical facilities, or EPC/design-build projects is strongly preferred.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong understanding of construction sequencing, work packaging, and execution planning.
  • Familiarity with planning tools and scheduling systems such as Primavera P6 (preferred); MS Project considered an asset.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, scopes, and project plans.
  • High attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work closely with field teams and project stakeholders.

Certifications (Preferred)

  • Planning, scheduling, or project controls certifications are an asset.
  • Proficiency in Excel and reporting tools.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to work on active construction sites.

WHAT WE OFFER

  • Competitive compensation and benefits package.
  • Opportunity to support large-scale, mission-critical data center projects.
  • A collaborative, safety-first EPC environment.
  • Exposure to complex project controls and planning systems.
  • Ongoing training and professional development opportunities.
