The Opportunity
Responsible for working both independently and as a team member to assemble products according to specifications and drawings by using various hand tools.
Responsibilities:
- Must be able to work consistently in a safe and efficient manner with a variety of products, various components, to finish products for sales to customers.
- Positions parts according to knowledge of unit being assembled and/or must be able to read and understand a work order, blueprint and tape measure and tailor assembly accordingly to varying specifications.
- Fastens parts together with bolts, screws, speed clips, rivets, or other fasteners, using hand tools and portable power tools.
- May remove small quantities of metal with hand files and scrapers to produce close fit between parts.
- May perform assembly as specialist in one area or rotated to other areas where customer or shop demands dictate.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one situations, to supervisors and to co-workers of the organization.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Interpret blueprints and read tape measures.
