Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced and highly organized Assistant Production Manager to support daily production operations within a fast-paced agricultural processing environment. Reporting directly to the Production Manager, this role is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day activities of the production line while also managing key human resources functions within the department.

The primary objective of the position is to ensure agricultural products are processed, packaged, and shipped efficiently, safely, and on schedule while maintaining quality standards and supporting a productive workforce.

This role is ideal for a hands-on leader who can balance operational demands with people management responsibilities, keeping the team positive and working together to overcome operational challenges that arise and require changes to the plan.

Main Accountabilities

Production Operations Management

· Coordinate and supervise daily production line activities to achieve operational targets.

· Ensure agricultural products are processed, packaged, and shipped in a timely and efficient manner.

· Monitor workflow, staffing levels, equipment utilization, and production schedules.

· Identify operational issues and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime and inefficiencies.

· Maintain compliance with food safety, quality assurance, occupational health and safety, and regulatory requirements.

· Support continuous improvement initiatives to improve productivity, quality, and cost control.

· Assist with inventory coordination and raw material usage to support uninterrupted production.

· Prepare production reports and communicate operational updates to management.

Human Resources Management

· Supervise, coach, and support production employees on a daily basis.

· Participate in recruitment, onboarding, orientation, and training of departmental staff.

· Conduct performance management activities including coaching, performance reviews, attendance management, and disciplinary processes.

· Promote employee engagement, teamwork, accountability, and a respectful workplace culture.

· Ensure departmental compliance with company policies and employment standards.

· Support workforce planning and scheduling to meet operational requirements.

· Assist with conflict resolution and employee relations matters within the department.

Quality & Safety Compliance

· Promote and enforce quality and safety practices throughout the production environment.

· Participate in incident investigations and corrective action when needed.

· Ensure employees receive required training and follow established procedures.

· Maintain compliance with all applicable regulatory and company standards.

Qualifications

· Formal post-secondary education in Business Administration, Operations Management, Agriculture, or a related discipline.

· Minimum 10 years of progressive production or manufacturing experience, preferably within agricultural processing, food production, or a related industry.

· Previous supervisory or leadership experience in a production environment is required.

· Combination of equivalent education and extensive industry experience may be considered.

Working Conditions

· Work is performed in a production and warehouse environment.

· Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings or weekends, may be required during peak production periods.

· Exposure to noise, dust, temperature variations, and industrial equipment is expected.

Pay: $80,000.00-$100,000.00 per year
