Payroll Coordinator

Who are we looking for?

Natural Forces is seeking a candidate to fill a Payroll Coordinator position to support our team members. This is a full-time position based at our head office in downtown Halifax. The Payroll Coordinator is responsible for managing all payroll and benefits activities across an international group of companies.

Key Tasks and Duties

Payroll and Benefits Administration

· Process monthly and bi-weekly payroll for Canadian entities

· Administer monthly payroll for European entities

· Collect and process timesheets for hourly employees across multiple entities

· Track and manage employee expense claims; administer expense management software

· Respond to payroll related inquires and resolve related issues

· Verify, maintain and organize payroll information and documentation

· Prepare payroll deductions and remittances

· Complete data entry for all payroll activities in a timely and accurate manner

· Prepare RRSP remittances

· Company benefit plan administration

· Employee onboarding for payroll and benefits

Processing and Reporting

· Process employment changes, system terminations and records of employment

· Assist in annual preparation of T4’s, T4A’s, RRSP adjustments and T2200s for year end balancing

· Update WCB rates in HRIS system, complete WCB reporting in multiple jurisdictions, act as company point of contact for WCB related inquiries

· Support and manage grant programs and funding through government funding for eligible employees

· Report and track annual vacation balances and bookings

· Track and report attendance

· Maintain electronic payroll and benefits files as required

· Ensure payroll records reconcile with the general ledger and support audits and reviews as necessary

Professional Development

Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.

Education and Experience

  • 3-5 years progressive payroll experience, ideally in a multi-entity environment
  • Demonstrated experience with ADP, Ceridian or other electronic payroll processing systems
  • Fluent in Microsoft Office 365 Suite, specifically Excel
  • Payroll Compliance Professional (PCP) preferred
