Director of Operations

Bar & Event Space · Full-Time · On-Site

ABOUT THE ROLE

We're opening an exciting bar and event space in the heart of downtown Squamish and we're looking for a driven, creative, and experienced operator to help us bring it to life. This is a founding leadership role — you won't just manage a venue, you'll help shape its identity, culture, and community presence from day one.

LOCATION & SCHEDULE

Location: Downtown Squamish, BC — on-site presence required

Hours: Wednesday – Sunday, 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM

Extended Hours: Required on-site during special events

Days: 5 days per week in-person

RESPONSIBILITIES

Lead and manage all day-to-day bar and venue operations with energy and precision

Assist the General Manager with hiring, onboarding, scheduling, and ongoing team development

Curate and regularly rotate the beverage and food menu to keep offerings fresh and compelling

Plan, coordinate, and host events in collaboration with community stakeholders and partners

Respond to space rental and private event inquiries in a timely, professional manner

Manage inventory, supplier relationships, orders, and back-of-house storage organization

Own and grow the social media presence and all online platforms (Google, Yelp, booking tools)

Serve as the primary point of contact for customer inquiries, concerns, and feedback

Collaborate with the GM on budgets, forecasting, and operational strategy

KEY MILESTONES

Build the Team: Partner with the GM to recruit, hire, and develop a high-performing hospitality team.

Activate the Space: Launch daily operations and establish consistent service standards from opening day.

Curate the Menu: Develop a seasonal, rotating menu that reflects local character and drives repeat visits.

Host Signature Events: Build an events calendar with community stakeholders that fills the venue and builds buzz.

Drive Bookings: Convert space rental inquiries into booked events through prompt, professional follow-up.

Grow Online Presence: Build an engaged, authentic following across social media and digital platforms.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Proven experience managing a bar, restaurant, or event venue — this is non-negotiable

Demonstrated ability to lead a team and work alongside senior management

Strong event planning and coordination skills with a portfolio of past events

Excellent communication skills for both customer-facing and supplier relationships

Comfortable managing social media content creation and community engagement

Highly organized with experience managing inventory, orders, and storage systems

A self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

Deep passion for hospitality, community, and creating exceptional experiences

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

Base Pay: Competitive salary commensurate with experience

Bonus: Commission-based performance bonus

Health: Extended health coverage

Sick Days: 5 paid sick days per year

Vacation: 2 weeks paid vacation annually

Pay: From $5,000.00 per month
