Full job description
If you’re an experienced Occupational Therapist looking for a meaningful career move—and a change in lifestyle—Island Health welcomes you. As an essential member of the healthcare team, your expertise plays a critical role in helping patients regain independence in daily activities by providing therapy, tools and support every day. Join a team that values your knowledge, recognizes the impact of your work, and invests in your professional growth.
Signing Bonus of up to $20,000
Hiring incentives may be available for select high-demand roles. To help attract and support qualified health care professionals, Island Health participates in Provincial Recruitment and Retention Incentive programs. These incentives apply only to select positions that meet program eligibility requirements, including geographical location and candidate qualifications. Candidates will be informed of eligibility as they progress through the recruitment process.
What You’ll Do
At Island Health, occupational therapists work across acute care, rehabilitation, neurology, cardiac care, community health, long-term care, and more — supporting patients through complex recovery journeys that require creativity, collaboration, and clinical variety every day. Here, occupational therapists assess, develop, and implement individual and group treatment programs to ensure optimum patient care.
What You Will Need to Apply
- Graduation from a recognized university program in Occupational Therapy.
- Current licensure as an Occupational Therapist with the College of Health and Care Professionals of British Columbia (CHCPBC).
- Eligible for membership in the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists (CAOT).
- A valid British Columbia driver's license may be required for some positions.
What We Offer
At Island Health, occupational therapists can build long-term careers supported by competitive compensation, comprehensive benefits, a strong pension plan, internal mobility, and opportunities across urban, community, and rural practice settings throughout Vancouver Island.
- Competitive salary: $45.15 – $56.17 per hour plus applicable shift differentials
- Comprehensive benefits including health, dental and vision
- Municipal Pension Plan with employer contributions
- 4 weeks paid vacation (prorated to FTE) plus 13 statutory holidays
- Continuing education and professional development opportunities
- Relocation assistance may be available for eligible candidates
- Eligible for the BC Loan Forgiveness Program
Finding the right role also means finding the right lifestyle. Across Vancouver Island, clinicians are building careers connected to meaningful patient care while also making space for life outside of work — coastline, trails, shorter commutes, community connection, and time to recharge. Because sustainable careers in Rehabilitation require balance too. Apply today.
Island Health offers programs and services on the unceded and traditional territories of the Coast Salish, Nuu-chah-nulth and Kwakwaka’wakw Peoples. As an organization, we are committed to cultural safety and humility and we demonstrate this through our actions to address Indigenous-specific racism, systemic racism and the ongoing impacts of colonialism.
