Occupational Therapist

Job Summary: We are seeking a compassionate and motivated Occupational Therapist to join our expanding clinical team. In this role, you will provide individualized assessment and therapy services to children and youth with diverse physical, cognitive, and developmental needs. You will work collaboratively with families and multidisciplinary teams to create customized treatment plans that help clients achieve greater independence and improved quality of life.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assessment & Intervention: Conduct assessments to evaluate fine motor, sensory processing, and functional skills in children and youth. Develop and implement individualized treatment plans tailored to the specific needs and goals of each client.
  • Client Support: Provide ongoing support and coaching to clients, families, and caregivers, ensuring interventions are carried out consistently across various environments.
  • Family Collaboration: Work closely with families to provide education, strategies, and resources that support their child’s development. Empower families with the tools they need to continue progress outside of therapy sessions.
  • Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Collaborate with a team of Behaviour Consultants, Speech-Language Pathologists, Occupational Therapists, Psychologists, and other professionals to deliver integrated care that addresses the whole child.
  • Progress Monitoring: Regularly evaluate and document client progress, adjusting treatment plans as necessary to optimize outcomes.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate and timely documentation, including assessment reports, treatment plans, and progress notes. Communicate effectively with families and team members regarding client progress and treatment adjustments.
  • FSCD Programming: Operate within the FSCD (Family Support for Children with Disabilities) model to ensure high-quality services that align with regulatory requirements and best practices.
  • Professional Development: Stay current with the latest research and advancements in occupational therapy, incorporating new techniques and strategies into practice.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy.
  • Licensure: Registered with the Alberta College of Occupational Therapists (ACOT).
  • Skills & Experience: A passion for working with children with disabilities, strong clinical reasoning skills, and a collaborative mindset.
  • Communication: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with an ability to build rapport with clients, families, and colleagues.
  • Adaptability: Eagerness to learn, adapt, and contribute positively to a growing team.
