Licensed Millwright (433A License):

  • Pay range: $45.00 per hour to $48.00 per hour, depending on experience

Job Summary: The Licensed Millwright is responsible for performing preventive and corrective maintenance on the facility’s equipment, including rotating and fixed equipment. Through routine and non – routine maintenance, ensures the department is run to maximize quality safety and productivity.

Millwright Primary Responsibilities:

  • Performs Corrective and Preventive Maintenance on fixed and rotating equipment, such as pumps, mixers, insulation, packaging lines, compressors, blowers, gearboxes, boilers, extruders, heat exchangers, filters, etc.
  • Sets up, troubleshoots and maintains packaging equipment
  • Troubleshoots mechanical/equipment problems and performs unscheduled equipment repairs.
  • Able to do minor pipe fitting, plumbing and pipe insulation.
  • Reads and interprets machine drawings in order to resolve problems or to rebuild equipment, by utilizing prints and plant documentation
  • Troubleshoots and repairs rotating equipment problems, assisting in the determination of root causes of equipment failures.
  • Able to weld and fabricate parts
  • Able to move heavy equipment.
  • Able to overhaul all types of pumps
  • Searches for WOs in CMMS and specifies and orders parts needed to complete work.
  • Documents work performed in PM procedures.
  • Participates in route cause Investigations
  • Orders and/or specifies parts needed
  • Maintains equipment records
  • Ensures maintenance history is accurate and entered into the CMMS
  • Documents all unplanned repairs
  • Participates in route cause Investigations
  • Orders and/or specifies parts needed
  • Records parts used for accurate inventory control
  • Other millwright duties and projects as assigned by Maintenance manager

Millwright Safety Responsibilities:

  • Complies with all safety company policies as well as provincial and local regulations, with the support and guidance of Corporate SHE authorities.
  • Completes all safe work permits.
  • Completes risk assessments

Millwright Minimum Qualifications:

  • Welding, pipe fitting/Oxy Fuel Cutting
  • Rigging
  • Pump repair
  • Fall Arrest /working at heights

Millwright Education/Experience:

  • 433A license A Must
  • Post-secondary education is an asset
  • High School diploma.
  • Minimum 4 years extensive experience as a licensed millwright, within a packaging manufacturing environment is a must.

Millwright Physical Competencies

  • Standing; Bending; Lifting (up to 50 lbs.); Pushing; Pulling; Crouching; Reaching; Repetitive Motions.
  • Must be physically fit to repetitively walk up and downstairs, and throughout the plant.
  • Must be flexible to work extended hours, up to a max of 12 hours per day.
  • Must be flexible to cover other shifts (afternoons or nights) and move to a continental shift to meet business needs
  • Must be able to work additional hours to do PM (Saturdays mostly)
