Sheet Metal Journeyperson – Halifax

Halifax is growing fast and Modern Niagara is proud to be part of the projects shaping the region’s next chapter. From healthcare facilities to advanced research spaces to major commercial builds, our teams are delivering the mechanical systems that keep Atlantic Canada moving.

As we expand our presence in Nova Scotia, we’re looking for Sheet Metal Journeypeople to join our Halifax team and contribute to high‑profile, community‑impacting projects. If you take pride in your craft, value teamwork, and want to build meaningful infrastructure, this is your opportunity.

Duties & Responsibilities

Install, fabricate, and assemble sheet metal components for commercial, institutional, industrial, and healthcare projects.

Read and interpret blueprint drawings, shop drawings, schematics, and project specifications.

Work collaboratively under the direction of the Project Foreperson to complete assigned tasks efficiently and safely.

Uphold Modern Niagara’s safety protocols and contribute to a strong safety culture on site.

Troubleshoot mechanical issues and ensure high‑quality workmanship.

Mentor and support apprentices as they develop their skills.

Perform additional related duties as required.

Must‑Haves

Red Seal Sheet Metal Worker certification (or equivalent provincial qualification).

Experience installing sheet metal systems on ICI or large‑scale construction projects.

Strong print‑reading skills and ability to interpret schematic and isometric drawings.

Ability to work at heights with all required safety training completed.

Excellent communication skills and a professional, team‑oriented attitude.

Strong mechanical problem‑solving abilities and attention to detail.

Commitment to safety and adherence to all site protocols.

Ability to work independently and within a team environment.

Willingness to mentor apprentices and contribute to their development.

Nice‑to‑Haves

Previous experience on major Halifax or Atlantic Canada construction projects.

Membership in a local Sheet Metal union (e.g., Local 409) or eligibility for dispatch.

Experience working with Modern Niagara or similar large mechanical contractors.
