Smart Aviation Maintenance Solutions Inc. (Smart AMS Inc.) is a Transport Canada–approved Maintenance Organization providing comprehensive technical services to support all aspects of aircraft maintenance, repair, and overhaul. We deliver high-quality MRO services and parts support across Canada and internationally. Our team takes pride in offering one-stop maintenance solutions that help our customers achieve their operational goals safely and efficiently.

Currently, we are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Licensed Structures-AME individual to join the team.

Open Position: ACA, AME - Structures (2)

Location: Ottawa, ON Canada (YOW airport)

Employment Type: Full-Time

1. Candidate will be performing large-scale structural modifications/conversions on regional aircraft in an MRO facility

2. Perform close tolerance drilling, reaming, removal, and installation to critical support structures and fracture critical areas.

3. Locating blind holes necessary for installation of new structural items to existing structure.

4. Perform efforts associated with sealing, painting, shimming, and preserving structure in accordance with standard repair processes.

5. Demonstrates the capability to read and interpret engineering drawings, technical orders, process specification, and retrofit requirements to perform structural modification/repair.

6. Ability to proficiently access and manipulate computer systems daily for work instructions, drawings, and training

7. Use of tooling assemblies and fixtures for depot level modification and repair of structural parts.

8. Applies professional technical expertise and guidance to solve complex problems by interpreting technical data such as blueprints or manufactures' manuals.

9. Work typically requires a thoroughly comprehensive knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting/repair procedures and replacement of components, a thorough knowledge of aircraft sheet metal/structural modification and repair and the ability to determine functionality of non-complex electrical systems.

10. A detailed knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, cable tensiometers, sheet metal brakes and sheers, etc. is required.

11. This candidate will be responsible for providing guidance and technical expertise to lower-level technicians throughout all aircraft modifications and/or maintenance efforts.

Requirements

1. 5+ years structures modifications at a MRO (or aircraft structural modification experience).

2. Candidate must be able to provide their own tools.

3. Able to read and interpret blueprints.

4. AME-S license is preferred but not required.

5. Must be willing and able to mentor apprentices.

Pay: $35.00-$50.00 per hour

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Ottawa, ON: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

Education:

  • AEC / DEP or Skilled Trade Certificate (required)

Experience:

  • AME Structures : 5 years (required)
