Permanent Part-Time Ice Cream Shop Associate (Daytime, 30 Hours/Week)

The Big Chill is looking for an energetic, kind, organized and dedicated person with a strong work ethic to join our team for a long-term position.

Approx 25-30+ hours/week in the summer & fall season with part-time availability in the winter. Generous tip structure. Must have adequate upper body strength (arms, wrists, elbows) for repetitive ice cream scooping. Graduates and individuals seeking stable part-time work encouraged to apply. Not suitable for seasonal or short-term applicants

This position is for a day time role with consistent shifts throughout the week (Mon-Fri from roughly 1:30 pm to 7 pm and weekends from 11:30 am to 6 pm). Consistent availability during the week and months and these hours is a must.

You will be working in a fast paced environment and customer service is key, so you must be able to multi-task, be sharp and genuinely like people and food.

Duties include opening the store, scooping, making Belgian waffles and other ice cream desserts, making simple coffee drinks, customer service, POS/cash, maintaining a clean and sanitary work environment.

Duties

• Opening and performing store duties such as setting up the store for the day and preparing stock
• Scooping ice cream
• Making ice cream desserts like sundaes, milkshakes and cookie sandwiches
• Ensure all food handling and preparation practices meet health and safety regulations.
• Sanitize work areas, utensils, and equipment regularly to maintain cleanliness.
• Assist customers with their selections, providing recommendations and upselling when appropriate.
• Handle cash transactions accurately while maintaining a balanced cash register.
• Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth operations during peak hours.

Qualifications

• Food handlers certification
• Previous experience in the food industry is preferred but not required.
• Strong customer service skills with the ability to engage positively with customers.
• Basic math skills for handling cash transactions
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $22.00-$25.00 per hour
