Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented PVD Process Technician to join our manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating, maintaining, and optimizing physical vapor deposition (PVD) equipment to ensure high-quality thin film coatings. This role requires strong mechanical knowledge, proficiency with system design and analysis tools, and excellent communication skills. Bilingual ability in English and French is a plus. The Process Technician will collaborate with engineering and production teams to improve processes, troubleshoot issues, and support product development initiatives. Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor PVD equipment to deposit thin films according to specified parameters.
  • Perform routine maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of deposition systems.
  • Analyze process data using MATLAB, Python, or other analysis tools to optimize coating quality and efficiency.
  • Develop and review schematics, system designs, and technical documentation utilizing AutoCAD, Revit, Civil 3D, MicroStation, or SolidWorks.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams on system improvements, process validation, and product development projects.
  • Conduct construction inspection activities related to equipment installation or upgrades.
  • Utilize project management tools such as Microsoft Project or Microsoft Office suite for task planning and reporting.
  • Maintain detailed records of process parameters, maintenance activities, and quality control measures.
  • Support laboratory testing and analysis to ensure coating specifications are met.
  • Communicate effectively with team members across departments; prepare presentations using PowerPoint for project updates.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and participate in continuous improvement initiatives based on lean manufacturing principles.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in manufacturing environments with a focus on PVD or thin film deposition processes.
  • Strong mechanical knowledge combined with expertise in system design, schematics, and maintenance procedures.
  • Proficiency with CAD software such as AutoCAD, Revit, Civil 3D, MicroStation, or SolidWorks; drafting skills are preferred.
  • Familiarity with programming languages like Python or MATLAB for data analysis; experience with programmable logic controllers (PLCs).
  • Knowledge of electrical engineering concepts relevant to equipment operation and troubleshooting.
  • Experience in construction inspection or construction-related projects is advantageous.
  • Excellent communication skills in English; bilingual proficiency in French is highly desirable.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently using Microsoft Office tools including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Project, and Teams.
  • Laboratory experience related to product testing or development is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team; leadership qualities are valued.
  • Attention to detail with strong analysis skills; capability to interpret schematics and system diagrams accurately.
