Job Summary

Events for Life is a charitable organization that offers day programs, four days per week, which provide social, recreational and healthy living skills to adults with special needs (www.eventsfor.life).

We are seeking a part-time Executive Director (minimum 6 months) to lead our organization while our current Executive Director is on medical leave.

We are looking for a dynamic and visionary Executive Director to lead our organization with passion, strategic insight, and a commitment to excellence. In this pivotal role, you will oversee the overall operations, foster strong community relationships, and drive the organization’s mission forward. Your leadership will inspire teams, manage resources effectively, and ensure that programs deliver meaningful impact. Responsibilities

Leadership & Strategy

  • Provide leadership to the Program Director, & Office Administrator.
  • Collaborate with the Board of Directors to support the organization’s strategic plan and implement organizational priorities.
  • Foster a positive, supportive, safe and accountable workplace.

Operations & Administration

  • In partnership with the Program Director, define staff requirements.
  • In partnership with the Program Director, oversee the volunteers and ensure there is appropriate recruiting, orientation, training, recognition and placement.
  • Engage directly with the parents of our participants to ensure their expectations are met.
  • Ensure team building and co-operation between Board of Directors, Committee members, parents, volunteers and employees.
  • Supervise and support Program Director and Office Administrator, including performance management and professional development.
  • Ensure strong administrative systems and effective internal communication.
  • Manage Benefits, Payroll and Insurance Plans for organization and employees.
  • Maintain and update Business Resumption Planning, Human Resources, Operations and Succession Planning Manuals.

Financial Management

  • Develop and manage the annual budget in collaboration with the Program staff, Treasurer and Board.
  • Oversee financial reporting, controls, and long-term sustainability planning.
  • Oversee 3rd Party Accounting firm.
  • Ensure responsible stewardship of donor funds and grant resources.

Fundraising & Community Engagement

  • Lead fundraising strategy, including donor relations, grant writing, and community partnerships.
  • Serve as the primary spokesperson and ambassador for the organization.
  • Build strong relationships with families, partners, funders, and the broader community.
  • Help plan, support and coordinate fundraising events and community engagement activities working with committees, volunteers, and sponsors
  • Support the launch of a Giving Society to major donors and prospects

Qualifications

  • Proven leadership experience in the nonprofit or social services sector.
  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities or in community-based programming is an asset.
  • Strong financial literacy and experience managing budgets.
  • Demonstrated success in fundraising, donor relations, or community engagement.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and relationship building skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a Board of Directors.
  • Post secondary education in a relevant field (e.g., social services, nonprofit management, education, community development) is preferred.
