Job Description

We are recruiting for Junior/Intermediate/Senior Naval Architect Technologists in Ottawa, ON and/or St. John’s, NL.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Develop 3D product models for ship structures in ShipConstructor for both new construction and refit projects.
  • Interpret technical, Detail Design, and construction drawings related to ship structures design.
  • Prepare specifications, sketches, requirements, and technical drawings.
  • Review production outputs to confirm accuracy of the 3D model and associated deliverables and ensure compliance with specifications and standards.
  • Support technical discussions for project reviews.
  • Mentor and assist in the development of less experienced team members.
  • Additional duties and responsibilities may be assigned based on qualifications of applicant.

Qualifications:

Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or associate degree; OR the equivalent combination of education, technical training, and work experience.
  • Junior 0-4 years of experience, Intermediate 4-8 years of experience, Senior +8 years of marine industry experience, with demonstrated expertise in structural modelling and drafting.
  • Proficiency in ShipConstructor is required.
  • Familiarity with Aveva E3D or PDMS is considered an asset.
  • Experience working within a shipyard is an asset.

Skills/Abilities

  • Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines; flexible, resourceful, and efficient.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to work within a team environment to support project completion.
  • Thorough understanding of quality and continuous improvement.
  • Decision-making skills and problem-solving considered an asset.
  • Eligibility for enrollment in the Controlled Goods Program.
  • Eligible Canadian Security Status (Secret or above).
