Overview

FARI LAW Professional Corporation, an Ontario-based firm, is seeking a highly motivated and self-sufficient associate lawyer to join our growing practice. This role is primarily focused on family law, with additional exposure to real estate and/or civil litigation, depending on the candidate’s experience and interest.

We are a modern, remote-first, performance-driven firm operating in a predominantly remote environment. The successful candidate will be expected to work independently while contributing to a collaborative and supportive team culture.

Work Structure

  • Remote-first position
  • Attendance required for:
  • Court appearances
  • Mediations and conferences
  • In-person team meetings (1–2 times per month)

Key Requirement (Critical)

The successful candidate must be capable of managing files from start to finish with minimal supervision or direction. This is not a heavily supervised junior role. We are seeking a lawyer who can:

  • Take ownership of files
  • Exercise sound judgment
  • Drive matters forward independently

Responsibilities

Family Law (Primary Focus)

  • Conduct initial client consultations
  • Provide independent legal advice on domestic contracts
  • Manage files from intake through resolution
  • Draft pleadings, financial statements, mediation briefs, and agreements
  • Attend court (conferences, motions, hearings, trials as applicable)
  • Represent clients in mediations and ADR processes

Additional Practice Areas (Secondary – Based on Experience)

Real Estate (if applicable)

  • Manage residential real estate transactions
  • Review and prepare closing documents
  • Liaise with lenders, clients, and opposing counsel

Civil Litigation (if applicable)

  • Draft pleadings and motion materials
  • Manage litigation files from initiation to resolution
  • Attend motions, case conferences, and settlement discussions

Requirements

  • Member in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario
  • 1–3 years post-call experience
  • Demonstrated experience in family law (required)
  • Experience in real estate and/or civil litigation (strong asset)
  • Proven ability to manage files independently from start to finish
  • Strong drafting and analytical skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities
  • Strong client communication and interpersonal skills
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Proficiency with:
  • Microsoft Office, Teams, Google Suite
  • Adobe Acrobat
  • Virtual meeting platforms
  • Practice management software (e.g., Clio, LEAP or similar)

Compensation

  • Quarterly bonuses tied to billable performance
  • Annual bonus potential: $10,000 – $50,000+
