Sr. Media Relations Advisor

Annual salary: $ 109,700.00 - 138,700.00

What you'll do

This role is a part of BC Hydro’s Media Relations and Issues Management group.

The primary responsibilities include:

  • Speech writing and experience writing for senior leaders.
  • Developing earned media strategies and products, and coordinating and executing a variety of media announcements and
events.
  • Providing support for enquiries from media, including acting as a spokesperson (ability to speak publicly in a language
besides English is an asset).
  • Creating, managing, editing and implementing communications strategies and products for corporate initiatives and
issues.
  • Acting as the lead and central point of contact for specific business areas and issues files.
  • Liaising with other groups within the organization to ensure consistent messaging and communications strategy.
  • Monitoring current events and industry news, anticipating potential impacts.

What you bring

  • At least five years of related experience, ideally in corporate communications, public relations or journalism.
  • Post-secondary degree/diploma in communications or a related field.
  • Exceptional writing skills and ability to breakdown complex information into content that is engaging and easy to
understand.
  • Ability to work under pressure and excel in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships.
  • Experience advising others, including senior leaders, on media strategy and issues management.
  • Comfortable dealing with sensitive material
  • Strong organizational and research skills

What else you should know

  • Please note a condition of employment for this role is to maintain your Class 5 Driver's License in good standing.

  • Knowledge of a second language would be considered an asset.
