Job Title: Summer Camp Counsellor
40-43.5 hours/Week
$18.60

Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and organize recreational and outdoor programs in advance for the Summer Day Camp using a program plan, as well as managing daily setup and clean-up, as well as photo documentation of the experiences to be used as a program evaluation tool.
- Maintain a safe environment for the children at the base locations as well as during transport, and while participating and on field trips.
- Assist in the development, implementation, and coordination of outdoor programs for the children.
- Supervise and provide a safe atmosphere, inclusive and welcoming environment for the participants. The child/ren safety is your main priority.
- Maintain and uphold the Eva Rothwell Centre Mission Statement, Vision, and Core Values.
- Establish a positive rapport with the participants.
- Illustrate a positive role model at the highest level of professionalism. Your image reflects our organization.
- Maintain and upkeep the facility, both inside and outside.
- Properly set up and clean up after use, any assigned areas, including the completion of any checklist.
- Complete and update your timesheet prior to your shift.
- Inform Senior Program Coordinator that you have completed your shift and responsibilities.
- Coordinate educational activities such as swimming, crafts, physical recreation, etc.
- Always participate in all activities with the children.
- Perform an accurate headcount.
- Administer first aid when necessary.
- Always follow the staff rules and procedures outlined.
- Other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience:
- Previous camp experience facilitating children’s programs and/or working with children.
- Skills in crafts, music, games, art, drama, swimming, and special needs. *(an asset)
- Must be a full-time student and have intentions to attend full-time schooling the following year.
Special Requirements:
- Standard First Aid and CPR Level C Certification.
- Police Vulnerable Sector Check will be required.
- High Five – Principles of Healthy Child Development Certification (Recreation Quality Assurance Standard) *(an asset).
- Food Handler’s Certificate *(an asset).
